LGBTQ SURVIVOR OF TRAFFICKING MAKING A DIFFERENCE IN SOUTHERN JERSEY
You Are More Than Inc. (www.yamt.org), the first and only Survivor-led, LGBTQ+ led and BIPOC-led organization in Southern NJ aimed at improving the lives of adult trafficking survivors, announces it will host Walk with Us: a virtual Walk/Run/Hike from July 18 -24, 2021. This past summer this event raised $4,687.00 which all funding is going towards launching YAMT’s pilot peer mentorship program.
Ashante Taylorcox, the Founder and Executive Director of You Are More Than Inc. founded YAMT after surviving familiar trafficking and exploitation while growing up in the foster care system in NJ. She started YAMT with the notion in mind that she wanted to create pathways of freedom for adult survivors that went beyond crisis management and helped stop the cycle of re-exploitation in the lives of survivors.
“Marginalized adult survivors are often underserved and overlooked when it comes to aftercare support. Unfortunately, the same youth who are trafficked in NJ are the adults that go without care once they are over the age of 24. You Are More Than Inc is on a mission to change that for survivors.” said Ashante Taylorcox the Founder & Executive Director of YAMT inc.
